We catch up with this years Canterbury with Tusk Teamwear's scholarship award winner Larissa Muldoon.
Last year Cardiff Met's very own Women's Rugby Irish International Larissa Muldoon received the prestigious Canterbury with Tusk Teamwear scholarship. We catch up with Larissa and Tusk Teamwear to find out more about the scholarship and what Larissa has been able to achieve with the added support.
Why are Canterbury with Tusk Teamwear sponsoring the scholarship?
Tusk Teamwear: "We have supported Cardiff Met for a long time through Tusk Teamwear and Canterbury, and it is good to give a promising student the opportunity to excel."
What are your expectations from the student?
Tusk Teamwear: "Each person is different and hopefully this scholarship will help them reach their full potential. It would be great to see an improvement of performance from this year even marginal. Any improvement is an improvement."
How has the scholarship helped you?
Larissa: "The scholarship has been a huge help, with fewer money worries over funding my masters studies in Sport Management, I've been able to train and play at the highest levels. Because of the scholarship I've been able to focus completely on both rugby and my studies, I played in the IRB 7's World Series and recently returned from training camp for the 6 nations, something I would have found very stressful to balance on top of my work load, without Canterbury with Tusk Teamwear's support."
What has receiving the scholarship meant to you?
Larissa: "Receiving the scholarship has meant I've been able to maintain all that I do and aspire to more, with the Women's Rugby World Cup in July and the potential for Ireland to maintain the 6 Nations title, it has meant I can fully experience these things without other worries. Being the recipient has highlighted the great support I already received from the Uni and now from Canterbury and Tusk Teamwear."
What do you hope for the future of the scholarship?
Tusk Teamwear: "We hope to continue to giveback to the students with the scholarship, and for the student to keep their mind focused on performance and academics without the financial worry, hopefully we will see many stars of the future."
