This years’ Summer Ball is set to be our biggest yet, with Jaguar Skills set to headline the main tent, and Cardiff Met firm favourites, - DJ Sarah Louise & Killer Tom supporting.

Although the Ball has no official dress code, fancy dress is heavily encouraged - so we would advise leaving your ball gown and Tuxedo at home!

Jaguar Skills is one of the UK’s most singular music talents. Honing his craft and love of music for the last 20 years, he has been responsible for some of the most exciting musical projects of the past few years, centered around producing stunning mixes comprises his personal unique edits and mash-ups. Jag has remained true to his identity keeping his mysterious edge and with his anonymity still intact, he's a consistently impressive presence on the club and festival circuit, with faultless technical sets and encyclopedic knowledge of drum and bass, hip-hop and everything in between, Jag knows how to get the crowd going!

 

DJ Sarah Louise has been playing house music for over 10 years, and has had a whirlwind rise into the club scene to say the least! After making a name for herself on the South Wales club scene, the ambitious deck spinner now plays in clubs across the world – from Vegas to Johannesburg. Landing a residency with record label and events organiser Hed Kandi, Sarah travels the the World playing at top sun-drenched locaitons from Ibiza to Las Vegas, playing the best in house music to packed out venues!

 

With over 10 years experience of rocking clubs and parties, Killer Tom's career summary speaks for itself. From old-school battle sets, festival stages, opening for Beyoncé and Jay-Z in Cardiff, to guest scratches on Goldie Lookin Chain albums, radio spots, European tours, he knows how to play hard to rock crowds! His undoubted block rocking deck skills playing an eclectic mix of Electro, Funk, Drum and Bass, Hip Hop, Dubstep and Breaks with a turntablist twist, it's easy to see why Killer Tom is Cardiff Met SU's Wednesday night favourite!

 

Devilman is an English Grime MC from Birmingham, best known for his idiosyncratic style, as well as for being one of the first grime MCs from outside the London area. Devilman was one of the first grime artists from Birmingham to feature on BBC 1Xtra. Also known for his long running dispute with fellow grime MC Skepta in what is remembered as one of the biggest grime clashes. Devilman has gained quite a following for his freestyle videos, series of mixtapes and EPs.

FAQ

Summer Ball Wristbands will be available for collection on Wednesday 22nd May 2019 from Centro on the Cyncoed Campus between 10:00 – 16:00. Please ensure that you bring your student ID to collect the wristband. The wristband will only be issued to the purchaser.

If you are unable to collect on this day, they will be available to collect from the 23rd May, up to the event from the SU office in Cyncoed.

Absolutely! We'll have a barbecue throughout the day!

Yes, the rides will be free!

If you are acting in a manner that suggests to us you’re too drunk to enter, then we will ask you to be breathalyzed. The limit set is not at the same level as the drink-drive limit, so a few drinks beforehand is fine.

We have a responsibility to run enjoyable, yet, safe events as we have a licence to protect. For us to run these sort of events, we need to ensure that we comply with the licensing rules and regulations. Of course we want you to have a great time, but we have rules that we have to adhere to.
