About us:

Welcome to Cardiff Met AFL, where excitement and teamwork come together on and off the field! Since our men's team kicked off in 2019 and the women's team joined in 2023, we've been constantly growing. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or a complete beginner, AFL is the perfect blend of rugby, football, and Gaelic football, offering a fun, sociable challenge for everyone. Come along and give it a try—no experience needed! Can't wait to see you! Find us at Freshers Fayre on the 25th September in the NIAC on Cyncoed Campus!

Game Layout:

Our teams competes in the National University League against Oxford, Birmingham and Cambridge Universities.

Each team competes in 3 tournaments consisting of 2 x 40 min games on the day to try qualify for the Grand Finals in March.

Games are 9-aside on a rugby pitch with rolling subsititions.

 

Tournaments:

Round 1 - In Cardiff (Sat 30th November)

Round 2 - In Oxford (Sat 11th January) ((Not Playing))

Round 3 - In Birmingham (Sat 25th January) 

Fitzpatrick Cup - Hosted by Cork University in Ireland in February (UK and Irish university tournament)

Round 4 - In Cambridge (Sat 8th March)

Grand Final - Hosted by Oxford (Sat 5th April) 

 

 

(If membership is set at £00.00 this does not mean the club will not administer their own fees)

 

In order to process and activate your membership, your name, student number and any additional information you are required to provide to participate in your sport will need to be made available to the SU, committee members of the clubs you wish to join and external organisations where appropriate. Your details will be used to effectively manage your membership and communicate relevant club, fixture, social event information to you. Should you wish to have your details removed, you can contact SU Sport susport@cardiffmet.ac.uk

As a member of a Club, Society or Student Group you are required to comply to the SU's Communications Policy for Student Groups. Any breach of this Policy may affect your membership and further disceplinary action may be taken.
