Club Background
Cardiff Met has a long standing tradition for netball excellence. We have one of the most advanced sports performance programmes in the UK for netball and this is emulated in the great performances we provide on court. Cardiff Met Netball aims to provide opportunities for all players, both at participation and performance levels. This is achieved by developing several Cardiff Met Netball teams that are incorporated in the following squads:
Cardiff Met Netball Club - BUCS 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th teams
Cardiff Met Netball Club Representation in Cardiff and District League - A team in Premier Division, B team in Division 7
Cardiff Met Social Netball – Social Teams that play in IMG league hosted here at Cardiff Met.
Netball Super League - Representation by Cardiff Met Netball Alumni Players
NPL Team Bath, Cardiff Dragons and Severn Stars - Representation by Current Cardiff Met Netball Players
U19, U21 and Senior Wales Feathers - Representation by current and graduate Cardiff Met Netball Players
The Netball Club is one of our performance sport programmes at the university. This means that any player involved in the programme recieves free physiotherapy, S&C training and athlete lifestyle advice.
The Club’s Players also have the opportunity of holding a Club Role, this is so the players themselves can shape the club; your sport, your club! Roles are Club Chair, Vice Chair, Social Secretaries, Umpiring Officers, and Fundraising Officers.
Competing for Cardiff Met Netball
Cardiff Met Netball is one of the most popular clubs for females at the university, and is one of the few clubs that cater for seven teams. Every year the netball club has a large intake of netball players, with annual fresher’s trial held in the first week of fresher’s. All teams successfully compete in BUCS every year always achieving great success and results. Additionally the club enters a team into the Cardiff and District league every Wednesday and Thursday evening.
Training
There are several training sessions that take place each week. Days and times vary for each team and each team is allocated a minimum of two training sessions and fitness/conditioning opportunities.
Socialising at Cardiff Met Netball
The Netball Club has an active social program that fits around the playing and training commitments. There are regular events on the social calendar all season and they are a great part of being a member of the netball club.
