On the 9-11th February 2015, Cardiff Met Students’ Union and the University’s Collaborative Provision Office invited students from each of Cardiff Met’s partner institutions to Cardiff to take part in the Partner Event 2015.

The aim of the visit was to give partner students a taste of the student experience at Cardiff Met and to give them representative training.

Cardiff Metropolitan University has over 5000 students studying Cardiff Met programmes in different institutions around the world. 12 partner student reps attended the Students’ Union Partner Event from institutions in Singapore, India, Sri Lanka, Morocco, Bulgaria, Lebanon and Greece to name but a few. For some of the students who attended, it was the first time they had travelled outside of their own country.

Liya Alexandrova, a partner student from IUC in Bulgaria said about the visit, “It was a great experience and I can't wait to share everything with my colleagues and teachers from IUC!”

During the event, students met senior University staff and had campus tours. Cardiff Met SU gave the students representative training and a session on what the Students’ Union is able to do for them. A Train the Trainer workshop was delivered so that partner students could take back the information they had learnt from their visit to then teach the students studying at their campus.

Partner students also had the opportunity to explore Cardiff during the visit. The Students’ Union took the student’s on a trip to Cardiff Bay where they had a look around the famous Senedd building and took photos outside of the Millennium Centre.
