Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tony Chapman addresses the 3rd year Cardiff Met students.
Two years ago, in September 2011, I welcomed many of you to Cardiff Met as ‘Freshers’. In that welcome, I indicated to you that ‘Higher Education requires personal discipline, organisation, resourcefulness, commitment and a recognition that real achievement requires real work’. The fact that you are entering your final year suggests that you have put in a huge effort thus far, and so, as the new academic session commences, I would like to wish you the very best in all your endeavours for the forthcoming year. I hope you will seize all the opportunities that are available to you to graduate with an excellent degree and with skills that will make you stand out to employers.
Our Students’ Union and Careers Service, and often the Academics who are teaching you, can provide a range of opportunities to enhance your CV through work placements, part-time work, volunteering and skills training. This is one of the reasons why Cardiff Met has been cited by the Daily Telegraph as one of the
Top 10 universities in the UK for securing a job.
Please make the most of your final year with us. I wish you well and look forward to seeing you at your graduation ceremony next July.
With all good wishes,
Antony J Chapman
Vice-Chancellor, Cardiff Metropolitan University
