Our Student President, Dan Flaherty Jr is moving on to a new adventure this week and is returning home to Warwick, Rhode Island to pursue his career ambitions. We are sad to see him go, although we are proud of everything that Dan has achieved within his role this past year leading Cardiff Met Students’ Union.
Dan has led the SU across the academic year, chairing the Board of Trustees and driving the development of a new SU strategy, working hard to reduce the cost of food on campus, representing student opinion to the council on the proposed parking ban in Cardiff, and has helped to launch the new SU Forum.
Here’s a few words from Dan himself:
I’m incredibly grateful to every student who has supported, challenged, and inspired me along the way. Although my time as President is ending earlier than expected, I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together. There’s still work to be done, but the fight for a better student experience isn’t going anywhere. I have every confidence that the union will continue to grow and thrive, and I’ll be proudly supporting from afar. Thank you for the privilege of serving you – I'll always value this time.
