Next week sees big title clashes for many Cardiff Met sports teams, including Women’s Football 1st, Women’s Tennis 1st, Netball 2nd, Women’s Badminton 1st, Women’s Rugby 2nd, Women’s Rugby 1st and Men’s Rugby 5th.
Each of these teams have had to face fierce oppositions to reach this final stage and all will have to dig deep to defeat some of the countries best sports teams. Cardiff Met has encouragingly good form in these final stage battles, with Women’s Rugby 1st XV winning 10 titles in the past decade, and Women’s Football winning several Premier titles in recent years.
Two of the teams reaching the finals will play in BUCS Big Wednesday at Surrey Sports Park on the 26th March. BUCS Big Wednesday is one of the biggest student sporting events of the year and will showcase some of the countries best young talent, including Cardiff Met students.
The Women’s 1st XV rugby team are privileged enough to play their final at the English home of rugby, Twickenham, on Friday 28th March. Last year the Women’s Rugby team experienced defeat at the hands of Exeter in the same final, but have repeatedly ensured that no questions could be asked about there performances this season, consistently beating Exeter by large margins including a huge 50-7 win in the semi-final on Tuesday.
