Men's Lacrosse won 7 out of 7 games in Western 2A this season, with a goal difference of 82. We spoke to Club Captain Chris Webborn ahead of Wednesday's Conference Cup Final.

How has your BUCS season gone this year?
This season has gone really well for us. We have won all 7 of out league games crowning us champions of the group. We kept the core of our team from last year and were boosted by a couple of experienced players in the fresher drive.

Are there any stand out performers this year for your team?
It's hard to say who has stood out because we have worked really well as a team. James Tiley in midfield has had a great season bringing his years of experience into the team. Thomas Tudor and Kyle Perkins get mentions for being solid in defence. Most teams started to fear them when they got hit which is good for us. A few players have stepped up well this year too like Jon Perry and Charlie Silcock.

What would winning the final mean to you and the team?
It would top off a great season for us. From coming 2nd in the pre season cup, to winning the league, the welsh Uni's tournament and now the final. We've all worked hard putting in extra sessions outside of regular training. Everyone is focused but also excited.

What are your aims for the next BUCS season?
Well we lose quite a few players but we are keeping a core 8 players (10 per side) so a strong fresher drive is needed next season. However, after getting promoted, we aim to stay in the higher league we wouldn't want a yo-yo season. If we can consolidate our position we can push for a promotion to the premier league the following year.

Another team who has reached the conference cup finals are the Men’s Badminton team. After coming 2nd in Western 2B they strungtogether a good cup run to set up a final against Swansea Uni. We caught up with Nic Strange ahead of Wednesday’s final.

How has your BUCS season gone this year?Having been promoted last season we knew that this season was going to be alot tougher. Despite this we have really put in some great performances and come out 2nd in the League.

Are there any stand out performers this year for your team?
One of the greatest assets to our mens team this year is Simon Brassington a 2nd year undergrad student. Simon have shown some clear developments in his game while being at Cardiff Met and maintains an almost perfect win loss ratio. Alongside this he has been asked to train now with the Welsh Squad on a Wednesday night at their High Performance Centre showing he has what it takes to compete with some of the best players in Wales.

What would winning the final mean to you and the team?
Winning the finals to me would be a great honour. I feel that everyone deserves to win this title as they have given it everything this year beating teams a league above them to get here. This would really be the icing on the cake of what has already been a successful season.

What are your aims for the next BUCS season?
Next season the plan is to win the league we are in a gain promotion to move up. This is very realistic as we have already beaten the top 2 teams in the league above to get to this cup final.
