Details

 

  • Be an active/flexible member of the recruitment/events/widening access team independently or along with other     students and members of staff.
  • To take groups of prospective students and their parents on tours around either campus. Visitors will be shown and given information about the buildings, ICT/learning facilities, Students Union and Sports facilities
  • Answer any questions that the visitors may have or know where to refer them
  • Represent Cardiff Metropolitan University at Higher Education fairs around the UK as directed
  • Visit schools/colleges in Wales as directed and assist with talks/presentations where necessary. It may be required, on occasion, to attend events in other areas of the UK.
  • Assist with Open Days/School Visit Days/ interactive workshops with participants/events such as WOW (Week One Welcome)/First Campus Programmes/Summer School
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the university and the services/facilities available to students
  • Support Tutors within the classroom environment and interact with learners in a supportive and engaging manner
  • Attendance at staff development/training as required appropriate to the event
  • Undertake other duties as deemed appropriate by the relevant officer
  • To carry out any other duties as part of the student recruitment activities as may be required by Communications, Marketing and Student Recruitment Staff.

  • Communicate appropriately with learners and staff always promoting the university in a positive way
  • Communicate with empathy and encourage participants to reach their full potential
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality and update appropriate staff with written or oral reports/feedback

Liaison and networking

  • Participate in and help develop internal and external networks for the benefit of Cardiff Metropolitan University. E.g. Schools, careers fairs etc.

Teamwork

  • Act as a responsible team member, leading where agreed, and develop productive working relationships with other members of staff and team members
  • Support colleagues and work effectively as a team

Initiative, problem-solving and decision making

  • Develop ideas for aiding progression into Cardiff Metropolitan University
  • Have the ability to respond to situations that arise in a professional manner seeking guidance when appropriate

Planning and managing resources

  • Co-ordinate with others (such as support staff or academic colleagues) to ensure student needs and expectations are met

Work environment

  • Within the context of Cardiff Met’s H&S policy, depending on area of work and level of training received take responsibility for the health and safety of yourself and others
  • Ensure that Child Protection policies are adhered to, acting in a respectful manner including  dress code
  • Act within the code of conduct of the venue/event
  • Be familiar of any travel arrangements and to arrive in a timely manner
