We want YOU! This is your opportunity to be the figurehead student for your School, to lead your School’s SU representation structure and play a key part in enhancing the student experience. As a representative of the Students’ Union you will work closely with other SU School Reps and the SU's Vice-President Education team to make real change at Cardiff Met.
Please note the successful candidate will not hold employee status with the Students' Union but will receive a bursary of £250/month as reward for undertaking this representative position. The post is from 1st September 2024 to 31st May.
You will work to oversee the SU Course Rep structure within your School, gather feedback from course reps to create school-wide themes and to work closely with the school's Associate Dean for Student Engagement (ADSE) to resolve school-wide issues.. Training is provided to help you make the most of the role. You will also work closely with and have support from the SU rep team, and the SU Vice-President Education who line manages the school reps.
This role is vital for your fellow students, it is also vital for the SU as you help to create a link between the SU and your School. You will work with students and academic staff to ensure the student voice is heard and will be required to engage with students from across the whole School and promote the student experience. You will co-chair the Student Staff Liaison Committee within the School and take an active lead in the School’s Learning and Teaching Meetings.

You will be working within an exciting representative position, where you get to make visible changes for you and your fellow students.
Responsibilities

Lead and oversee the SU representation structure in your School;

Regularly report on activity to SU Vice-President Education.

Submit a monthly report to the SU and regularly attend the Student Forum.

Be involved in creating positive changes in your School;

Work closely with the SU staff and Vice-President Education to ensure effective representation;

Actively seek to find fellow students for ideas and opinions and get them actioned by the SU and University;

Continue to create an exciting environment that you want to study in through events within the School;

Represent the students at School and University level and at all required meetings;

Be an active and engaged ambassador of the Students' Union and encourage student involvement with the SU.
Skills Required

A passion to fully engage with the role, its responsibilities and the opportunities it provides;

An understanding of the SU, the SU Representation structure and student voice at Cardiff Met;

Good interpersonal and communication skills;

Ability and confidence to express other students’ opinions.

We will be holding the interviews between 26th and 28th of August, and we will be providing in-person training between 16th to 20th of September which would be required by successful candidates.
