The Role

Are you a proactive and passionate student with an interest in student wellbeing? Do you want to positively challenge the SU and University to do more for students? Wellbeing is a key area of focus for both the SU and University and we’re looking for a SU Wellbeing Part-Time Officer to develop and lead on new ideas, projects and activism within the SU for the 2022/23 academic year.

The SU Wellbeing Officer will help us to drive change and implement new initiatives as part of the SU Part-Time Officer team who look to create a better Cardiff Met for all students. You will draw on your own interests and knowledge to play a key part in shaping the important changes being made in this area and use student feedback to create campaigns and initiatives for students relating to student wellbeing.

Please note the successful candidate will not hold employee status with the Students' Union but will receive a monthly bursary of £100 between September and June as award for undertaking this representative position.

The SU Wellbeing Part-Time Officer will explore new initiatives and campaigns for students within the area of wellbeing. You will support the SU to deliver initiatives, which fit within levels one and two of the Cardiff Met Stepped Care Model for Wellbeing and use student feedback to create campaigns and initiatives for students relating to wellbeing. You will be part of the SU Part-Time Officer team reporting to the SU President-Affairs & Community and working closely with the nominated SU Liaison and University Liaison.

 

Responsibilities

  • You will play a key role in the Students’ Unions work in the area of student wellbeing, developing and leading on projects and campaigns to engage other students and to actively challenge the SU and University on student wellbeing issues
  • Represent the SU at relevant meetings and committees
  •  By building on positive working relationships with Student Services you will enhance channels of communication and feedback between students, the department and the SU
  • Form positive working relationships with student representatives making effective use of the SU Rep structure to ensure students views on wellbeing are represented and utilised in project work and activism
  • The SU Wellbeing Part-Time Officer will be responsible for supporting the SU’s work within the Stepped Care Model for Wellbeing.
