Partners

Welcome to all our Cardiff Met Students’ Union Transnational partners around the globe. Although you will be studying at another Institution, and in another country, you are still very much a part of the family at Cardiff Metropolitan University, and we are keen to ensure that you have a great learning experience and support. We truly value your membership as part of our global SU (Students' Union) community.

Our Transnational Partner Aim:

  • Represent the views and ensure a quality provision for students at all campuses around the globe.
  • Effectively represent the collective student voice at all organisational levels including decision making bodies.
  • Provide and respond to the diversity of the student body in the design and delivery of student engagement, partnership working and student representation process

Ways we engage with our international partner students:

We have recently developed a Cardiff Met Students’ Union Transnational Engagement strategy. This strategy focuses on three stages of engagement throughout the academic year.

Term 1- The Students’ Union Information Session

The first stage is an online information session about what your Students’ Union can do for you, during your time studying as a Cardiff Met student and beyond. The session aims to give you and understanding of an SU, our relationship with Cardiff Met, an insight into our Representation Structure, knowledge of the SU Advice and Support service and ways in which we will engage with you across your journey.

Broadcast live to Cardiff Met partner students around the world on 18.10.2021, the SU Partner Information Session is to show Cardiff Met SU members around the globe what services are available to them! You can re-watch the session below!

Term 2- The SU Partner Event

The partner event is a 4-day event held over both of our campuses in Cardiff. Each year a selected representative from our Transnational Partners, come to Cardiff and experience what life is like studying in the Welsh Capital. However, in recent years due to the pandemic, the event has been hosted online will be again this year.

Purpose of the Event

The Students’ Union Partner Event aims to equip students with the skills they need to be a Cardiff Met Student Representative for their course no matter where they study. This year, the event will be held via Microsoft Teams Webinar, from the 28th of March – 1st April 2022 and is open to any student studying a Cardiff Met degree. The Partner Event aims to:

  • Represent the views and ensure a quality provision for students at all campuses around the globe.
  • Effectively represent the collective student voice at all organisational levels including decision making bodies.
  • Provide and respond to the diversity of the student body in the design and delivery of student engagement, partnership working and student representation process.
  • To develop a sense of community, connectedness, and culture through online learning environments.
  • To provide training on the role of a Cardiff Met student representative.
  • Develop purposeful partnerships and practices with our transnational partner universities and colleges.

The Partner Event has been highlighted as best practice by Quality Assurance Agency. We contributed to a Webinar that gives an insight into the experiences had by our students who attended in the past.

Term 3- Quality Assurance and Student Experience Check-Ins

Cardiff Met SU staff hold online chats with each representative from our Transnational Partners about their experiences as a Cardiff Met student. We value student voice and use this feedback as a way of celebrating successes and highlighting areas that may need improvements for future TNE (Transnational Education) students.

Feedback

We are working hard to engage further with our TNE students. We would like to hear from you about how we can connect with you better. If you have any ideas, or, if you would like to know more, then please contact Sam Harrison via email or Teams message. SMHarrison@cardiffmet.ac.uk
